A dreamy escape: demolishing in the côte d’azur

04-04-2025

The Côte d’Azur, with its breathtaking coastline, golden beaches, and endless sunshine, is a well-known dream destination. You can easily envision yourself chilling by the pool with a refreshing beverage—it is an idyllic retreat to unwind after a long day or bask in the warmth of summer. Fun fact: in France, there are over 3 million swimming pools, many of which are more than 10 years old.

the need for modernisation

Older pools often come with several drawbacks. They tend to have ageing structures that require frequent maintenance, lack modern innovations, consume high amounts of energy, and provide reduced comfort and efficiency. As a result, many homeowners opt to replace them with more contemporary, eco-friendly alternatives. However, demolishing an entire swimming pool can be costly and challenging, particularly when it comes to managing site waste.

A challenging site with limited access

A challenging site with limited access

Our client, ATV Terrassement Nicolino & Fils, a master craftsman in earthworks and demolition, took on a particularly complex project. The site posed several major difficulties, including restricted access that made it difficult to manoeuvre heavy machinery, a tight working space limiting equipment operation, and the need to ensure safety for both workers and the surrounding environment.

To tackle this challenge, the team utilised:

  • BF60.1 S4 Crusher Bucket
  • MB-S14 S4 Screening Bucket
  • Installed on a KOBELCO SK 140 SRLC excavator

Despite these challenges, the demolition process progressed efficiently. Initial earthworks required creative problem-solving due to limited space, while on-site crushing transformed demolition materials into reusable resources. Screening further ensured materials could be repurposed for future projects.

“The use of our excavator equipped with the crusher bucket allows us to quickly and efficiently transform construction waste into reusable materials. This technique not only optimises the site cleaning process but also helps reduce the environmental impact of our activities. Indeed, by crushing on-site, we avoid transporting heavy materials to external treatment facilities, thereby minimising carbon emissions associated with transport,” stated the company manager.

A COMPACT MOBILE RECYCLING CENTRE

Once the pool was demolished, a screening process was implemented to maximise material reuse:

  • On-site crushing reduced waste and transportation costs
  • Recycled materials were integrated into new developments
  • Circular economy benefits minimised environmental impact

Advanced Equipment for Complex Sites

The BF 60.1 Crusher Bucket stands out for its compact size and lightweight build, durability and robustness, and ability to access difficult sites such as historic centres or mountainous areas.

The MB-S14 S4 Screening Bucket complements it perfectly. It is compact and easily transportable, indispensable for volumetric separation, and compatible with various types of construction machinery.

This combination is a portable compact recycling centre that provides efficient, environmentally responsible demolition and material reuse—even on one of the most complex sites in the Côte d’Azur.

And the best part? With all the money saved using MB Crusher units, you might just afford that dream villa in the Côte d’Azur—pool included!
